i thought i had a nice set of 20 inch chrome rims, turns out they are painted aluminum with a plastic cover ( hubcap like)..anyone else like this?

Yup... Dodge calls them "Chrome Clad" - and they've been doing that since 2003. When I bought my '09 I was really hoping they learned... but no, they hadn't

the famous chrome clad wheels.....they were on my 05 daytona and yes there on my 09....and there not cheap to replace any how no problems in 05 and 09 with them.

nice rim, how hard is it to get the covers off i wonder? i can paint the factory wheel and keep the chrome cover if i dont like it lol

You guys realize almost every car company in the world has been doing this for about 10 years now. Some higher end euros have non-clad wheels, but only on their higher end models.

all my vehicles in the last 6 year ( got my license in 05) have had clear coated aluminum

yup, they are held on with a strong apoxy. I have seen guys take them off to polish the rims, but the only way to get the chrome cover off is in little pieces. Not even worth the time it takes.
