What I have read is that it works like the manual transmission hand brake hill start, but it works automatically by detecting the angle of the vehicle. I thought it was a feature only on vehicles with a foot clutch.

Keep it on... works like a champ and is VERY useful. Most common example is if you're stopped at a light at a inclined (hill) area... you can let off the brake pedal and the truck does not roll backwards for up to 3-5 seconds. Came in very handy with all the extreme hills at the Branson Rally

From the owners manual
Hill Start Assist (HSA)
The HSA system is designed to assist the driver in
launching a vehicle on an incline. HSA will maintain the
level of brake pressure the driver inputs for a short
duration once the driver takes his foot off of the brake
pedal.

If the driver does not apply the throttle during this
short duration, the system will release brake pressure
and the vehicle will roll down the incline. The system will
release brake pressure in proportion to the amount of
throttle applied.

During operation, HSA will activate the brake control
system and a clicking noise may occur. If your foot is on
the brake pedal during operation you may feel a slight
pedal movement. The clicking and pedal movement is
normal and both will stop when HSA becomes inactive.

thanks Guys, I didn't know if it hurt performance of line or something, did my first little burn out yesterday and was a little surprised that I couldn't just let off the brake from a dead stop, nail it and turn em over like I could with my 05, but then I had the Diablo tuner tuned for 93 octane too. Just got over 800 miles on it so maybe a little more break in and wait till they put out a tune for the 2011's

My very first car was a '56 Studebaker President. It had 'Hill Start'.
