Few questions about 09-11.

I'm sort of in the market for a 2009 to 2011 crew cab 4 x 4. Just was wondering a few things about those years. What sort of gains are you guys getting with canned tunes? Which one seemed to be the best? Also as far as the stereo goes are there any hiccups with upgrades such as is it better to go with a more basic stereo so I can freely upgrade it or is the upgraded stereo in these hard to modify? I remember the infinity in my 05 was. I ended up just running all new speaker wire and everything.

Canned Tunes usually give us about 20hp/tq to the wheels where custom tuning can get you up to 30-35hp/tq to the wheels.

As for the stereo, it is much easier to upgrade if you do NOT get the factory Alpine stereo. The factory base stereo is your best choice if you are planning to upgrade.

Is the Alpine that good? And was it Alpine in 09-11. I know it is in the brand new ones, just wasn't sure if it was something else. I know the SRTs have changed to Harmon Kardon from Kicker in the last few years. I don't care to upgrade or not if the Alpine is good. If it's like the Infinity though I would rather upgrade...lol.

The Alpine stereo for that year model was not all that impressive. It is much better on the 2013+ trucks, but I was not impressed with the Alpine setup in my 2011. I would opt for the base model stereo and upgrade it yourself.

My '11 has the bare bones radio. AM/FM/Sat/single disc CD/AUX and it had issues developing a cold solder condition. Mine wasn't a fluke, I've seen several post about the problem on different forums. Mine was in the volume knob, would have been difficult to repair. I had to replace it. Found a new take out from an '09 pretty cheap. The code on the front of that radio is RES
