Singing the Diablo blues

I bought a used u7137 VIN unlocked Predator Sport Diablo for my 05. It came with a newer revision v9r13 so I plugged it to my truck. A screen came up that said...'Missing required data, please reinstall crom with DSDL'...so I get in touch with DSP. I was then instructed by DSP to installed the latest crom v9r14 and update the PCM to the latest calid for the vehicles PCM and TCM and it should work. Okay, simple enough. I then tried to load the performance tune so I could get the backup file stored and then proceed with CMR custom tuning. After completion I get...'Calibration update failed'...'TCM error prepare vehicle -154'. Checking another screen for the last tune written I get...'Predator not married yet. Nothing to show'...and 'Unable to get calibration ID', plus the truck won't start now so I get back with DSP. They had me reinstall everything again and spent time on the phone with me while the tool was plugged into the truck and talked me through the steps to force a calibration. Prior to this point the tool did reconize my vehicles VIN and the new calid's. After I tried the forced calibration I get this...'Calibration update failed'...TCM error prepare vehicle -154'...'Update did not finish'...'PCM boot up string missing/vpp issue' and the truck still will not start. Fed up I ask DSP how I could retrieve whatever the tool loaded into my truck so I can start it and they told me that I'd have to send the tool in for repairs and wait for its return or take my truck to the dealer for a flash.

Thats when I talked with 392charged about the issue since he and I have similar problems, however his truck will load a tune on the PCM side and he can start and drive his truck. He still can't load a trans tune even though he's tried his factory repaired Predator and flashed PCM, a new Intune and Trinity... even bought a new factory PCM to no avail.

I then talked to a company that repairs PCM's and told them my issues and asked if a dealer flash would over wright whatever DSP gremlins are in my PCM? They asked if I had access to a scanner that could read the PCM and TCM info. I told them yes, with a Snap-on Solus. They told me if the Snap-on tool can read the PCM and TCM functions that a dealer flash would work fine. However if it didn't I would need a new PCM which would save me a trip to the dealer. Well the Snap-on read the engine side just fine, but told me it has...'No communiction to the TCM'...

So now I need to buy a new PCM, but their are none to be had at any of the distribution centers accroos the country. I'll probably have to settle for a reman PCM for now. What about continuing with Diablo?

I feel your pain.

Hopefully what I'm going to try will fix my truck and get yours going again if the PCM swap doesn't fix your truck going to have a buddy try it here soon now I'm curious

Just throwing this as I'm known for being a DSP hater. But can you send your PCM to Diablo along with your tuner and have them force the tune?

They will do that for you that is how I originally got my truck to drive to them but still didn't fix my issues that's when I drove down there and spent the entire day there to no avail was told prior to leaving put a new PCM in it and its good to go so I spent 395$ on a new one and had same issue so I now have 2 PCM both with no tcm tunability I'm betting the comp is not the issue going to find out soon from what I am getting the truck thinks the key is off so I'm trying my idea soon

Going a different route with the PCM. How was your experience with the company you got your pcm through? Wasn't it Car Computor Exchange? Did you send them your VIN so it was plug and play?

I got my spare PCM from a salvage yard and just plugged it in and it is what I'm still running. It is one version older than my originally which surprises me as I have a March 03 build. and two versions older then what SC said would be supported. It's all magic....

That's odd it didn't need flashing at all they are vin locked normally unless for some reason that was just a fluke

Interesting...I just bought a used 05 PCM. It has the same software update part # as your oringinal PCM Keith and could you send me your VIN# so I can compare it to mine? Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky too.
