What should I do ??

Hello everyone.
I have a 2005 4 door 5.7 hemi Daytona.. a couple of years ago I got a comp cam custom grind cam something like 280somethin, which I did not like. I also got some edelbrock shorty headers which I also did no like.. and of course I changed out the valve springs and pushrods(oh and custom tune)..now reasons for me not liking the cam where/is that it took a lot of low end power or torque, but did give me high end power(which I'm not in need of) Now this truck I was using to haul/tow. But the mechanic I took the truck also didnt do there homework(me being the other person) so they just got a big stick thinking bigger is better. And the shorty headers I didnt like because if I slightly punch it in a turn they hit the steering wheel column and gets the steering wheel stuck momentarily until I let go of the gas... anyway a couple of months ago truck broke down.. I opened it up and sure enough a valve spring was broken and the valve itself was inside the intake manifold... also broken valve cover... so I'm trying to decide what to do with the heads. Should I get a new set from edelbrock or get the ones I got machined( the seat of the valve springs got slightly damaged)... also looking at switching out the cam while engines half apart. Maybe a 268or 260.??? This truck I want it to run just a lil better than stock nothing exaggerated but i do need torque because I intend to tow with it..so what you guys recommend what about edelbrock intake manifold would it even fit because of the throttle body position??oh also what kind of headers have been/are recommended?? Should I take out the cats/or what Evers behind the headers?(they look pretty small for cats)

Welcome to the forum... the proven combo is long tubes, 2600-2800 stall converter. Jay Green cam, ported big valve heads, custom tune and all the little supportin mods we throw at them...

If it were me, I'd hit Ebay for a pair of 2009+ Eagle heads there are a few "re-mans" on there right now in the $500-900 range and few used aboused heads starting in the low $200s ,.....for what it's worth Jegs has ATK remans for $512 , Edelbrock G3 heads are not a good choice for a tow rig, there are a little too big , that and the exhaust Valve(1.65) has fitment issues in the 5.7 block . Edelbrock Intake will fit and work with the Eagle heads have to mod some connections and use a Auto/car front cover...not that big of a deal.
Cam ..contact MMX those guys can help you , or just look at some of Crower's cams there a few off the self that work well for what your looking for.
Redtruck-VA and SUPER BEE like this.

Welcome to HTC.

Rebuilt/modded/milled gen3 5.7 heads, RV camshaft(Jay Greene), long tube headers, free flowing exhaust system, Fastman ported throttle body 4.10/4.56 gears with Truetrac, performance/towing tune. 3500 trans cooler, deep trans pan, Sonnex Line pressure booster will help out the 545rfe trans. You start doing too many changes to the engine and it's going to be $$$. And it wont run like the way it should. But on the other hand. If you have lots of money, these guys will help you spend it wisely.

Welcome to the forum. I run a 268 comp can and dynatech long tube headers with high flow cats. I def noticed my low end dropped out with the swap. I put in a set of 4.56 and it perked it right up. I used Jay green for advice and tune.

If you're towing I'm not sure if a higher stall torque converter would be recommended. Also I'm not sure if the 4.56 would be geared too low as well for towing. It will help with the pull but will eat up your gas mileage.

With what you have done to the truck if you just find a set of stock heads you'll be fine. The 3rd gen heads have really great airflow up to 550hp. I would drop a line to Jay and see what he recommends as well.

The 260 comp cam is a milder cam that will still add some ponies without taking all the low end out.
