VVT tuning questions and comparability.

Hey guys, I plan on keep the 12 Durango R/T for a long time. Plans for it would be a built trans, a forged Hemi, and some boost.

Now the the real question is what options do I have when it comes to tuning, VVT comparability as far as using non VVT Hemi parts, or engines.

I can get a good deal on a 5.7 based 392 stroker, that is forged, but not VVT. Can the VVT be tuned out? What are my options.

Does anyone make VVT strokers?

PS What up with VVT, is it in the cam or what im new to the whole VVT Hemi thing.

The VVT(variable valve timing) as it's called is actually VCT(variable cam timing). There is a cam phaser. All it does is advance/retard valve train timing some. You could do a bottom end and even big valve heads and it wouldn't affect the VVT. It can be tuned out and a solid gear cam put in BUT why do that when you can use it to your advantage? The VVT engines make more power than the non VVT engines especially on the bottom end which is where you want it with a heavy rango. Moes performance has VVT Hemi cams that come with a modified cam phaser. Hemifever and Jay Greene both have successful experience tuning VVT engines. Jay Greene can grind you a custom camshaft as well which would be nice especially if you plan on boosting. He might be the best guy to talk to for your plans if your intentions are to go all out.
