Truck Running Horrible

Drove the 20 miles to work this morning and when I took off at the last stop before my office, the truck would barely go. Its missing very badly, won't idle, severe loss of power, and it has a loud tap coming from the valvetrain. The tap is similar to the "Hemi Tick" but a lot more noticeable. Any ideas? I've had the 6.1 cam for probably 40K miles, long tubes, K&N, superchips. Could I have bent a pushrod or valve or messed up a lifter. Seems odd that it would have happened so suddenly. I also got a P2299 code - Brake Pedal Position/Accel Pedal Position Incompatible. This could have been just from two-footing it to keep it running. The red lightning bolt flickered a few times too. Appreciate any help you can give.

Sounds like a broken valve spring.

Did you replace the valves springs when you installed the 6.1 cam?

We have a winner! Got the plugs out and valve covers off last night. #5 exhaust spring is trashed. Plugs looked ok so hopefully didn't drop a valve. Going to do a pressure/leak down test tonight. I did not change the springs when I installed the 6.1 can, so I am not surprised one finally broke. But getting 40K+ miles isn't too bad. I hear the 6.1 exhaust springs are a good budget upgrade for the 6.1 cam or other mild cams? What other cam could I run that would give me a little more power that will work with the 6.1 springs? I appreciate the help.

when folks do cam swaps, 99% of them go with the 6.1 exhaust springs, no matter what cam they are putting in
