truck din't want to start..everything dead

Here's a weird one for me. Going out to lunch, hopped in my truck, flipped the key and nothing...i was able to use key fob to unlock the door but after that the key fob didn't work, nor did the lock switch, no lights, no dash lights with the key in and turned..dead... so I go and pop the hood and decide to remove battery cable to hard restart everything, I also pulled the pcm fuse (23), then reinserted it, and reattached the batt cable. I knew there was power now because my windshield wipers did a single cycle when cable was reattached (note: battery is less than a month old)... so back incab, she fires up fine, go to lunch and come back ok.

Later in the afternoon I go out to my truck to get something and sure enough, key fob doesn't unlock so I knew it was dead again (no lights, no dash lights).. so I decided to pull the battery cable for a couple minutes and then reattach...still dead... earlier I had texted some ram buds to get their take on it and one of them said to replace/swap the pcm fuse for another, said that although it doesn't look like it burnt out, sometimes it 'wears' out. So I swap that 15 amp fuse with one for the pedal adjustment (i don't have a pedal that adjusts so it was a spare to me)... sure enough, it starts... I go to gym later (starts ok), when I leave gym an hour later, dead.... so i find if I just remove batt gnd for a couple minutes...everything resets and starts... so go home. I stop and start and it works...a couple hours later dead. One thing to note, when I did come out of gym the little red light was on (not flashing) and I could hear a faint buzzing too. Every time thereafter that it's dead, lil red light in on an buzzing..I pull batt gnd and it resets an starts. This happened this morning too. I plan on taking this 1 month old battery in to get it tested as I see the light is like a prerequisite with the battery going bad. Let me know if there is anything else I can check...

Fred, the power source is obviously the IPM. For the cluster there are two power wires, one constant fused 12v. The other ignition on 12v. There is one ground for the cluster. It is a wire harness pull-out ground on the cluster support structure. I've never had a problem with either wire. But IPM is a common issue. This in my opinion looks to be ipm.

After checking that common ground I'd trace back to ipm just see if there is anything odd. The resetting is strange.

I don't know how the circuit works. Looks like constant fused 12v to cluster, but I think ignition "on" 12v gets tricky by signaling the IPM (fcm) with a ignition on "sense" to supply some of the ignition 12v power.
Good luck..

kb112 mentioned a wire that runs under battery tray that sometimes gets crimped and gave people fits a long while ago...

There's a temperature sensor under the battery, but haven't heard of any issues.

In this schematic C1 looks to be the fused power wire.
