Time for Plugs

Hello All;

It's way over time for new plugs. Any suggestions on brands where I'll see the biggest performance/mpg gains if any? Should I drop some additional money and put on new wires also (currently stock)? I did some searching and didn't find any definitive answers on prior threads. On a side note I tried to visit 3rd Strike's(Duanne's) website and couldn't get it to display. Is it just me or does anyone know if his website is down?

'03 5.7 Hemi QC Laramie - Patriot Blue
Magnaflow Exhaust
AFE CAI
Superchips (Currently not using due to better mpg running stock over 87 octane mode and 89 being cheaper in my neck of the woods)
Jet Stream Air Scoop

Thanks for the info...

and switch to shorites.

Thanks for the info. I notice Napa has a PCV valve listed for 26.49. I called the Dodge dealership and they wanted 33.51. Has anyone used the Napa part or should I purchase OEM. Saving $7 is nice but it's more about convenience of not having to drive 30 miles to the closes Dodge dealership.

SoapCreekHemi

The PCV sold by NAPA looks identical to the Mopar OEM PCV.

Welcome SoapCreekHemi, glad to have you join us.
Check with Henson Motors on a lot of things. Since you not in Texas you don't have to pay sales tax. Art is on vacation this week, but Jay will help you out. Be sure to tell him your with HTC.

if your trying to save money, stick with the NGK regular 5306 or 4306. I had a hard time finding them locally... better off just ordering them online and paying the shipping... i drove around for 2 hours finding enough of the same to do the job (no one carries 16 of anyone kind)

*Note: NGK 4306 is our "standard" heat range plug, and the 5306 is one step colder (NGK part#s are different than champion, acdelco, etc.. as NGK's 1st digit goes up one number, the heat range goes down one step). I am running the 5306 (trying to get better fuel eco) and can not say that a "noticeable" increase in MPG can be noted. It does however "feel" like it is running better (but could just be because of the "fresh" plugs)

you have it backwards.
NGK 5306 is the stock heat range plug.
NGK 4306 is one step colder.

Look at THIS i found on the NGK website, 4th paragraph, specifically the last sentence.

What i am wrong about is that "5306" IS in fact the recommended "factory" heat range, not the 4306, sorry!... but now i am confused... the guys running the 4306's are running a step HOTTER, as per the NGK plug data.

I thought i was getting the colder of the two plugs based on the two most popular NGK part#s.... now i dont know.
