Think of a cam! I need some in sight.

hey guys i have a 05 hemi 4x4 and i was thinking maybe about adding a cam to the truck. It already has a black magic fan, CAI, taylor shortie wires, superchips tuner. My question is, I would like to get a cam put in that doesn't require a whole list of other parts to be installed too(headers, complete new valvetrain ect). Something that'll work with all the stock parts but give a nice increase too without murdering driveability??? Is this to much of a stretch or is it possible? Any ideas? I'm a former Mustang ford guy and i have no idea how these hemi engine respond to cams and such. Thank everyone

to get the most out of a cam, you really need a set of headers. and no matter which cam you choose, it's also a good idea to replace the valvesprings/pushrods with the 6.1L equipment. something like a comp 260 would work well

the 260 can run on superchips, it may run rough until the computer learns the cam. personally, i wouldn't do a cam and then skip the custom tune for it

Only problem custom tunes is that I'm hours away from anyone that does them??

You can do an email tune, datalog, and then email that back to a good tuner who has cmr software. Thats what I did with my trinity but I dont know about superchips

superchips cannot custom tune, need to switch to diablo or SCT for that. you can get email tunes with both. the 260 should run fine on the superchips though

I have the 260 with superchips. It's a pain in the but to get it to idle at 1st or any time you disconect the battery. but a short 20 min drive fixxes that. just be prepared to have stall during that 20 min drive.
I 1st put the 6.1 cam in mine but my 1/4 times didn't change. was slower in the 1st 1/8 and faster in the last 1/8. put the 260 in and went 2/10ths faster.
With eather cam you will need valve springs and push rods are recommended
