Stall converter choices

Jay Greene is working on my new camshaft and setting it up for a 3000 stall converter. I am trying to decide on edge, or circle D. I was about decided on circle D when i read on another forum that there were some guys having surge problems with them on gen 3 hemi rams. Any of you having this problem?

Get a Pro Edge TC. It acts like a stock converter under normal driving. Hit the gas WOT from idle and the converter hits solid at the set stall. No spongy feel at WOT. Love my Pro Edge TC. And, so does the turbo.

I used two Edges converters recommended by Andre (Edge owner) and he has hit the nail on the head both times. I won't use anything else..

I know in the beginning some had problem's with the higher stall's 34/3500 and smaller diameter 245 mm Circle D. Think it was more freaking out the pcm than the torque converter. Think that's all old new's and haven't heard anything recent.

I'm running a Circle D 258mm Pro with no problem's for a couple yrs. now. I also run a custom tranny tune with it and a Sonnax.

Both are good TC and the owner's stand behind their product. So I don't think you go wrong with either one.

Here is the rundown...

11" Edge vs Circle D

Both perform the same but the Circle D will be slightly tighter feeling per the same stall speed.

258mm only Circle D sells these.

Designed for boost or those that need lower shift extensions then a 245mm, some have surging or bucking.

245mm only Circle D sells them.

Designed for max effort NA but recently was discontinued after me and Chris talked it over with some R&D on a truck. Just to many issues with the Ram PCM with them...

9/11 only Edge sells them. aka Pro Edge

Designed for max effort NA or race applications with better manners then the 245 mm, great converter but is loose. Edge discontinued it due to complains over it being to loose. Only sells 3600+ but can go as tight as 3000 if hounded... Ashame its not around anymore.

You want a 11" Circle D HPII or Street Edge, both will perform the same with the Circle D being slightly tighter feeling.

I am un-bias to either, despite my truck being sponsored by Circle D.

In a nutshell, Circle D makes the best street-able 11" by a small small margin for the win. Edge use to make the best race converter with manners.

If I was going to run a converter for the street and 3000 or less it would be a Circle D. If I wanted a NA race converter 3400 or larger it would be a Pro Edge
