Shocks

Ok guys looking for your input. I have a 2009 Ram 1500 TRX 2wd needing new shocks. It has a 2.5" leveling kit on the front. Should I go Bilstein, Rancho, etc or stay with stock?

I recommend giving Viking a call and talking with them about what you are looking for. Family owned, American made with excellent quality.

I've always been a fan of Bilstein personally. I've run the 4600 heavy duty shock, had over 90k miles on them before I replaced them with Bilstein 5100 shocks that were custom ordered for the 2/4 drop that I have. The 5100 is originally designed for lifted trucks but the suspension shop I use out here can get them in custom lengths, so I would imagine that other places could as well.

The background story I was given is the owner of Vi-king, family name King was a long time engineer for QA1 and decide he could do better with his own small company. Their catolog is extensive and provides plenty of information to make selection for your individual setup. I have V-king for the front not yet installed and QA1 on the rear. Side by side looking only at finish the QA1 are prettier. They V-king have more adjustment both in clicks and thread lenght and come with needle bearings. I was told they are superior to QA1 in quality and less expensive. I'll have a better evaluation in the future.

I have had great experiences in using Bilstein as a replacement shock in the past.

Using Bilstein 4600's here...they have a solid reputation. There are other high quality but lesser known shocks knocking on their door...strong competition between manufacturers and engineering will give all of us the best choices .

I'm looking at Fox Coil Over or Reservoir Shocks when I get a suspension lift done on my truck this spring/summer, but I have a 4x4. I believe Fox makes shocks for 2wd too. They have very high ratings in reviews.
