Opening up the Eagle combustion chamber

Been thinking this over for a bit. I love DIY projects and hate giving my money up unless itís something I absolutely canít do myself. So I picked up a dirt cheap set of 5.7 eagle heads I want to put on my stroker. The biggest problem I have is with the 65cc chamber Iíll be sitting at 10.8-11.0 CR with a .075 thick head gasket. That would be ok for NA but I eventually want to boost it and would appreciate alittle extra wiggle room. If I sent the heads out Iím assuming it will be around $400-$600 for machining and shipping, Iíd rather spend that on other mods haha. I have one or two local shops to contact to see if they could do it, but who knows if they can. So what Iím thinking is trying to make a jig to use a router and carbide bit to skin down the quench pad and make it closer to the early heads. What Iím not sure of is calculating how much needs taken out to get what I want. Iíll have to read up on measuring the cc reliably

Going to Eagle heads. There's more changes there than you know. Just stick to the 03-08 5.7 heads if you going to boost. Wont make much of a difference. Or, if you insist... Lower cr with a dish style piston. Don't ruin a good set of Eagle heads.

The eagle heads are almost identical to the 6.1 heads you are using with boost aside from a touch higher compression ratio. I’m going with the complete eagle heads and intake swapped over. Those are pretty much the difference why the eagle motor is rated another 40hp over our old motors. I don’t think I’m going to hurt anything putting better flowing heads on a bigger cube and cam motor. Running through a few calculators last night with my stroker combo and a .075 gasket I’d be sitting around 10.8 compression without touching the heads. I won’t be ruining these heads, I’ll be sure to do any testing on a scrap set first

Now of course I’m kicking myself for not building a 8.5:1 motor in the first place but it’s not worth another $700 for pistons and 3rd motor tear down to change them out

Low compression is old school we run high compression and boost now get it!

Chris , Cometic has a .120 Head gasket...granted it's about $225 a side.
To open up those eagles, you'll have to either have someone mill out an area similar to the pre Eagle/6.1 heads or if you want to try it your self you'll have to angle back the chamber ...kind of like port matching, but it's to the head gasket....issue with that is, you'll be checking your work A LOT, CC'ing the chambers and making a final pattern to duplicate your work.....you can verrie(SIC) up to 4 CC per cylinder but anything more will start having negative effects on tuning.
Do your math with the .120 gaskets and see where that leaves you Comp wise, the .120 gasket will take up to 16psi before there is an issue...…….some BIG CI engines are being built with the .120 gasket for a little more rod length(personally I think it's a waste .
you can run a boost engine on 10.0comp just make sure BOV is a real good one.

Maybe I can stack a .075 gasket on my .027 cometic gasket

I'm all for experimenting, but which shape combustion chamber is beyond anything I know about. But I'd go with 6.1 heads as being the best overall chamber with 9.5 cr.. for boost on a daily driven street ride.
