Need help!!

New here so I hope I'm doing this right. I've just put a 2008 5.7 in a 2007 body. During the swap I noticed the cam shaft position sensors are different (I installed a 260 comp camp with bee hive valve springs.) so I put the 2007 sensor in so I could plug it in. Now of course I get a p0016 code and my engine is in limp mode. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?!?

Give us some time to think this one over. Some one will give you a good answer.

Ok that shiudnt matter it was all the same except for the mds option until 2008/9 I believe. That code is a correlation code meaning something is likely out of time. Your timing chain may be off a tooth I'm thinking here. The sensor has a diff plug but operates the same way as the 2008 the wheel is even the same on the cam.

Welcome to the forum. Looking at tone ring count this what I found.
The stock 2008 and earlier 5.7 and 6.1 engines use the 32 tooth ring, while 2009 and later require a 58 tooth ring.

So you should be good using a 08 engine in a 07 body. I have read in the past that occasionally the cam sensor and crank sensor get out of sync and need a scan tool to re-sync. Also if a cam is installed off a tooth it can throw a code. Did you take pictures of your cam line-up?

I didn't take a picture of my cam line up. I thought of this but it idles smooth and revs fine in park. May still be the problem though. Guess I'll be tearing the front off to double check. :cry2

I often start second guessing what I did. So I take a picture to save myself an unnecessary tear down.
