Looking for rebuilt 5.7 Engine

I am buying my first Hemi used with a ton of miles. Its an 03 5.7 4x4 with a whopping 350k and still running strong. I'm getting a good deal and the owner is the original and has taken very good care of it.

With that said, I don't imagine the engine is going to run for another 100k and so I'd like to look into ordering a rebuilt engine.

Does anyone recommend any particular company? I have found a few online but I am buying blind.

Thanks in advance

The 03's have their own set of differences but there is a lot of expertise available here with The Hemi Truck Club...some 03 owners will probably be along soon to offer advice and help .

Welcome to the forum, it is always good to see another 03 come onboard. I would recommend you get to know the truck a little and then you will have a clear idea what needs to be done. Most folks start out with the basic three. CAI, exhaust and tuner... There are basically two tuners to select from. The Superchips and Diablo. The 03's do have some limitations, but they can be worked around. There is no trans tuning so if you select a Superchip you can get away with buying a used SC3815 which is discontinued but can still be found cheap. If you plan on serious mods then get a Diablo and have a custom tune done. Keith is doing great tuning on the 03's. There is plenty of support here. Have fun...

Thanks for the info! At 350,000 im a little hesitant to perform any serious mods until the engine has been replaced. Although its been very well taken care if I am buying with the expectation that the engine is going to fail soon. From what ive gathered the Hemi is a strong engine but i havent found much on what to expect at 250+ miles

Welcome to HTC.

Duane at 3rd Strike Performance has had reman 5.7L Hemi long blocks on his online store. If he doesn't have what you need he can probably get you pointed in the right direction. He has worked with a lot of us on HTC.

She'll run until it blows up... it happens to all of us at one time or another. If you do a cam change or open the motor stick in an upgraded oil pump and timing chain. I usually recommend changing the valve springs as they are known failure item, but yours with the mileage it has I wouldn't worry about them and just changed them and seals when you do head work. Of course building a motor on the side is a good plan if you already know what you want...
