Intake modifications

Hey everyone new here. I'm looking to add a cold air intake to my 2012 ram. I heard it's best to upgrade the intake manifold before hand and wanted to know if there's any truth to that?
I'm also looking to reduce the throttle response. Wondering what's the best way to do that?

Good to have you here.

Don't concern yourself with an Intake Manifold upgrade (very few options).
A Cold Air Intake to your stock manifold will be just fine.

Unless of course your building a race truck.

Welcome to HTC!

To reduce response you will need a tuner to turn it down. As for the intake manifold don't bother just get a nice cold air Intake and be done with it

Thumbs up

As Keith said...CAI...

All most of us ever need is the CAI, clean up the exhaust with a good y-pipe and better muffler, maybe beef up the tranny a little, get a tuner and 4:56's in the rear. That makes the vast majority of us happy unless you're a dedicated and serious racer.

The Intake manifold on these trucks is pretty top notch, there are car guys taking the 09-up Eagle intake and modifying it to use on older 5.7s. gone are the days of pulling that factory iron dual plane and buying a Performer RPM and gaining 20-30 HP.
Tune, it gear it, exhaust it, stroke it ...in any order you want.
And welcome to the club pull up a a chair some and enjoy the ride.

lots of good info here and what I really like about the place is , respect , lots of it.
