and it’s running a little rich now with the 03. But it was perfect with the 05 and it still did it

I would focus on the 05 pcm and getting it tuned. If the the LTFT and STFT are off it will adapt messing up the tune over time.
SUPER BEE likes this.

05 was tuned perfect keith said. Still surged and everything. The 03 used to didn’t do this I’m just trying to get ideas of what could cause this. If it does it on both 03 and perfectly tuned 05 it’s not a tuning issue

Every once in a while, my 03 pcm would act up with the KRC tune. After doing the re-set/erasing the running history, then re-installing the KRC tune. It would run good again.

What rpm does it surge at? What does your spark plugs look like?

How about if you do a battery disconnect does it idle normal again for awhile before acting up or does it act up soon as it gets hot again?

The 03 and the 05 run different fuel pressures. 03 is 48-49psif. The 05 runs 58psif. The injectors could be different from the 03 to the 05. Could be something to look into.

Today was the first time since 2009 that I put 87 octane gas in my 03... Normally run 93 octane gas.

I have a tune from Jay Greene. He says that on some of the dodges that surge happens when using cmr tuning. There is another tuner he recommends but it's expensive and you have to buy points for it. Someone on here has to know what I'm talking about.

Anyway I run a 268 comp cam and mine does the same thing as far as the surging. It isnt WOT to no throttle though. It will raise and lower from 1000 rpms to 1500 or so. Only when I'm coasting around 30 to 40 or when I'm really low in a gear barely giving it any throttle.

Mine is an 08 so it's a dif pcm but def sounds the same as yours. I would reach out to Jay Greene. He has been a god send on some of my issues. However the guys on here know there stuff too. Either way someone will know

Sounds like the HP Tuning suite. You buy typically 2 credits to license a ram engine tune. There are few folks on the forum who have switched to it..
