Good 180* Thermostat for Hemi

After doing some research.... I've found that the Valuecraft 4128/417275 is regarded as the best T-Stat for our engines..

It has a failsafe feature and is made by Moto-Rad.

It actually runs around 185* and should not throw any codes...

A lot of the LX and SRT-8 guys are them and they love them.

You can get them at Autozone....

Ask them to search for 417275....

$12.99

I'm using a 180 from Stant. It also runs a little warmer than 180 and no codes. I think it's 1 mm too big so a little trimming is required.

I installed the Valuecraft today.

It has Moto-Rad stamped on it. I monitored my engine temp via the Superchips and under normal driving it was almost always on 184*.

It fit without any trimming. It is a tight fit, but it did go.

A++

Mine works fine. No problems.

Some poeple say that T stats don't really help. But the second time I went to the track I was running 15 flat all night. I finally waited like an hour for my truck to cool off and there was no one in line so my truck didn't warm up. I ran a 14.9 and then I waited about another hour and I ran a 14.81. I think the cooler motor does help a lot.

My 180* thermostat has been working great for about a week now.. Very consistent temperature and no codes.

My gas mileage also hasn't changed as some report...

I'm still getting 16-17 at 55-60 mph.... even with the 35's....

Its a great mod overall.... its definitly more responsive in the 90-100 degree heat....

You'll like the Valuecraft....

Like I said, it was a tight fit, but it took like a minute of working the seal around and it pressed in... No big deal at all...

i called up autozone and they said they'd have to special order it. i didnt know that would be a normal circumstance until i read on other hemi forums and found out people there had to do the same thing. when i put in the code 417275 in at autozone.com, it doesnt pull up anything but if i put in the 4128 then it pulls up the duralast t stat. is the duralast a substitute or something?

I got lucky and they had one in stock.... I believe the duralast is excellent as well and I'm pretty sure MotoRad makes it.

I'd either get the duralast or have them order the valuecraft.

Only autozone can look it up with 417275.
