Gen 3 forged 5.7?

So as the miles keep Adding on, I’ve thought about trying to start piecing together some goodies for another motor for my 04. Seems most stroke the 5.7, but I’ve thought about doing forged internals an keep the stock 5.7 displacement for hopefully some sort of force induction down the road. Really comes down to somewhat a budget side of things, but I can’t say in the 7+ yrs that I felt my truck needed more motor per say. Just figure I need a forged 5.7 rotating assembly?
The truck has to much sentimental value to me(at least to this point) that it isn’t going anywhere. I know trans is also a problem too but not top on the list.

Just really looking for advice at this time. Been 3 years since I ran the truck an it went [email protected] on a mid 70 degree day, still would like to run a 12.9x n/a. Would make me happy.

Check the thread I have going with somewhat similar questions. Although I am looking at a 392 stroker.

The ATK 392 stroker short blocks have forged internals, you might call them to see if they can do one as a 5.7L.

Jasper engines sells long blocks and they say one thier site that they do custom builds as well, you might contact them about getting a 5.7 with forged internals as well.

Looks like Inertia has strokers as well that compete price wise with the ATK short blocks. Inertia does do 5.7 short blocks with forged internals and a bunch of other options.

A 5.7 forged with as close to stock compression and stroke will make a nasty boost motor! Most times people stroke them because it’s about same price stroke or not stroke when going forged internals. Main thing is you need a tune to wake the cam up especially in the top end.

A very doable goal. The only real problem is knowing when to say enough is enough.

Pick up a used 6 1 Crank, forged pistons, and rods and your good. Looking at about 1700-1800 In parts. Pull your motor and have it machined for .020 over and balance rotating assy. You will want all new bearings and new Head Gaskets

6.1 cranks pop up on E-bay $150-600.( I have spare I'll set aside) you can use a 2014+5.7 crank some machine work to the snout to machine down to use the Non VVT cam gear.
Rods as low as $320
https://www.cnc-motorsports.com/scat...ting-rods.html
Pistons as low as $600 ,
https://www.cnc-motorsports.com/icon...3937-bore.html (ok it says it's for a stroker but it's a1.22 Comp height piston,

point is, for about $1200-1600 + machine work you can do a forged bottom end.

Personally...Do the trans swap 1st, once you get that 545 slush box out of there , you'll notice a difference
