Friends 05 tuck issues

hey guys, I have a friend who works at the local autozone that is having an issue with his truck.. I copied this from another forum:

oh man, I could use your help with my dilemma. My truck has been giving me headaches for close to a year now. it was running fine then all of a sudden it took a huge **** on me. now its not running for ****, it is hard to start and when it gets started it dies when i apply any gas. I don't want to bite the bullet and take it to the dealer but it looks like I might have to. I've changed the EGR, cam and crank sensor, pcv valve and cleaned the throttle body. I dont know where else to look, I dont have the equiptment to check the fuel pressure and im not throwing any codes. I dont want to buy something else but im on the verge of saying **** it. I dont know if you remember me but I used to work at the Autozone on Santa Rita. Any suggestions you have will be much appreciated.

I gave him my email addy and I want to help him sort this out...throw out some ideas on what to check for... I almost want to say the fuel pump is takin a dump so I'll probably check fuel pressure..

thanks...fred

almost makes me wonder if I should pull timing cover off for the heck of it to make sure timing set is ok and check if cam pin is not sheared off...

Check the psi and get back to us. He seems to have covered most everything else.

Check and make sure the evap prime valve is not stuck open. Added fuel can only come from over pressure is fuel system, leaky evap purge or bad sensor giving wrong readings.

Given that the truck is evenly rich it has to be something that will effect entire engine. Fuel or sensor issue

That's high vacuum. And makes a leaking purge valve more probable
