Eagle 392 stroker questions.

Ok I bought the Eagle kit to stroke my 5.7 to a 392 it came with the Mahle pistons (flat top) and Mahle rings. Had the block cut to a 3.927 as specs from kit. I have built hundreds of engines but have never seen the four oil ring config that this has. I hate it and see no way to keep the oil ring in place while you put it in the block. I had an engine builder friend of mine come over and it just is not happening. Everytime I go to put the piston in the flimsy oil ring rolls out of groove as you put it in block.

Is there a better ring to put in or a three ring oil ring combo out there that will go in these pistons without giving me the greif????

Mahle ring number sent in kit 3932ms-112
Mahle piston number 930276227 24545 01

Any help would be great I am dead in the water till I can figure out a better oil ring for it.

Rick

the fourth "oil Ring" is the support ring should be about .02-.03 thick and have a dimple 90 degrees from the end buts that has to be installed 1st
install with the dimple over the wrist pin. then install oil rings like you would any other piston, you can see the dimple in Stu's photo.

if non of your oil rings has this dimple...Call Mahlle and tell them.
the other thing is with an oil support ring piston you need to have a real good compressor for install or bit the bullet and get a specific 3.927 compressor https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...9975/overview/

I have the dimple right it just rolls the small ring out when I put it in block. Which costs me a set of rings. Is there another brand that will fit these l like total seal? Thank you for your help. I have the snap on install tool but will buy the summit one since it is just a few miles from here.

Thanks guys. its aggravating to be so close to being done and then brakes.....

Well I just got off the phone with Mahle. Jon Said they actually had a batch they had to recall and this set could have been in there since it was the numbers being pulled and they are sending me a new set of rings for it.. So that is good.

Ok for those that have built this engine. Is it only the pass side piston skirts that need to be notched for the rodbolt/crank clearance??
