I was wondering if doing an e-fan is a good idea. Does it really see hp gains? Also, will my having a 20% underdrive pulley effect the powering of it? Insight would be much appreciated.

You will see hp gains on a dyno not so much notice driving but it will be quieter and the up side 20ud slows the factory
Fan down potentially causing an issue with heat at idle with efan no worries set a temp stat and don't worry about it will run when it needs to very nice upgrade

I think you will find the eFan running less than you first might expect. At highway speeds during the summer mine stays off. Bogged down in traffic or waiting in a drive through the eFan cycle on and off. I have a 20% UD pulley going on in a couple of weeks when I get home. Good luck...

I have checked many reviews on installing an E Fan, and I decided to order a Flex-a-lite 183 Kit for my 3rd Gen. Ram. I plan to stay with the factory thermostat, as I believe this temp. will give me better combustion, and better fuel mileage. The fan will free up lost horsepower and torque due to the factory fan.

I too have the Flex a lite 183 waiting to be installed. I am waiting to change out the old 03 bottle over shroud setup to the 05 radiator and side bottles. Then the e-fan foes on.

I think it is a must if you live in the hotter states. In the summer in traffic I sometimes have issues with the temp climbing up. It doesn't help any that the truck is black. But i am hoping this takes care of those issues.

Only problem I've had with mine is the fuse holder they sent had a loose connection and pretty much had a melt down. This caused damage to the controller. 1 email to flex a lite and they sent me a new one under warranty. Never asked when I bought it or how long its been on the truck. Honestly I was trying to find the part number for the controller so I could order a new one. He told me to give Him my address and he'd send me one. Great customer service if I do say so.

Thread from the dead, but e-fans are not driven by the pulley system. Hence the name e-fan.

Yep, I've run the eFan for a couple years with a UD pulley without issues except the BlackMagic 180 temperature controller (thermo bulb style) became a little erratic in operation and I changed to a water temp sensor and it is dead on every time.
