Does anyone know what Dodge did to increase the horsepower & torque for 2009? It was a pretty significant increase (~40 hp?). Is there a way to retrofit the changes to the 02-08 Hemi?

Variable valve timing and an active intake manifold that changes runner length depending on engine rpm and load. I don't know how feasible or expensive a conversion would be.

Easier and cheaper ways to pick up 40HP, set of LT headers, a programmer, coldair intake and a catback will do it for ya.

Bigger intake valves (2.05 vs 2.00), roughly a .75 ratio bump in compression, better flowing ports (they now closely resemble the ports of the 6.1 heads), higher lift cam, and as previously mentioned, variable cam timing and active intake manifold. The exhaust manifolds are also supposed to flow better. I think I read that in a breakdown of the new engine by a dealer tech that had just attended some pretty in depth training, complete with illustrated cutaway views of the new engine.

How exactly does the VCT work? Don't the Vipers already utilize that as well?
