Cometic most gasket mods

So I've been thinking about doing this for a little bit now. I'm currently running 0.075 thick head gaskets and was going to "trim" the thickness down a bit. Basically the gaskets are made from 3 thin pieces of metal and 2 thick pieces. If I remove one thin and one thick piece then I should get a compression ratio around 10.5ish lol. Keep in mind this is all pending that I clears the 6.1 heads and the 273 xfi cam. I was going to do a dry run with some clay on the piston coating the clay with some oil. Hopefully this experiment will put to rest how thin of a gasket you can use when combining a stock 5.7 block/internals with 6.1 heads. Any thoughts?

You wonít be able to take them apart like that you will need to get a thinner set of gaskets if you wanna do this. The gaskets have a sealer on the top and bottom not on the inside so if you remove the top or bottom it will leak.

So I can't just drill the rivets, take them apart, clean them, spray copper on them and be good to go? Maybe I got lucky but I thought I had a blown gasket and did this. Motor has been strong for 5k miles. I just want to know exactly how think of a gasket I could use before getting into trouble. Compression or valve clearance.

Dang it so much for this free experiment. Well there is one good thing that came from all this. The head gaskets that I'm using are 0.075" but I'm using the stock 6.1 pushrods. This leaves 0.046" gap. I think this would explain my less then spectacular Dyno results on the stock cam.

Taco Bell frowns on that...Ö
.051 is the tightest I've used with the 6.1 cam, the 273 cam I can't comment on. never used one in a stock 5.7 short block with 6.1 heads.

Someone on this site has done the 6.1 intake, 6.1 heads and the 273 cam with no problems. I just can't find it. Was it SatinPumpkin or some name like that???
