That's a good question. What exactly is the point of failure? No doubt it is at high rpm which to me is 7000rpm. I see a remote possibility of a valve stem reversing direction and coming out of the retainer. But this would have to happen when the valve spring is compressed and at it's highest pressure which makes a unlikely scenario. If in doubt I would go for lightness and strenght making titanium a good candidate. No facts, just thinking put loud.
