BBK is now good in my book!

Ok well about 4 months ago I bought a 90mm TB and had issue from day 1. Every time I went wot quickly it would do a TB shut down and kill the truck! Well I called them and they said they have heard of it but didn't have a fix for it. They said they would get me a diff one and swap it out and see if that worked. Well in cleaning the old one to send back the side cover fell off so I got to looking and diagnosing what is causing the issue with the shut downs! In my testing I found that if I manually opened the TB the voltage on my scanner would go above 4.85v which will kill the TB anything over 4.825 for a few milliseconds. Well my testing led me to the zip tie mod lol yes zip ties. I wrapped them around the stop in the TB and glued one to the inside also. This led me to get a voltage of 4.68 which kept the TB from shitting down and allowing me to go wot. Well I emailed them the info I found out and from here the issues are solved. They took the Info I have them along with the TB I sent back with my custom mods in place lol and made an entire new batch of TB for the HEMI. the new TB now have a ridge on the edge where the old one does not and when opened by hand the voltage stops at 4.78 volts so there won't be any shut downs from that and my recent road test proved its good to go. So I went thru a ton of work and diag and waiting but there is now a new redesigned TB for the HEMI that will not have a shut down issue. Here is my custom mod picture lol see the zip tie and the little piece.

Here is the new TB and you can see the ridge to keep hoses in place and the issue free operation. This works issue free and I get no issues with it so anyone that buys a new one will have no more issues with shut downs enjoy guys I found it for them. Ken at BBK said he was getting blank stairs when he was telling them what was happening every time I went wot. So BBK is on my good guys list and if I need something they have I will deff buy it from them.

Keith, excellent trouble shooting. I've used a 90mm BKK for quite some time and I was lucky I didn't have any issues as I wouldn't have been able to diagnose the problem. If we ever get a opportunity to test mine i would like to see what voltage we get. My cover hasn't fallen off so I don't know what the stop looks like. Lol

Just wondering if it would help stop most the tb shut downs on the KRC tune? With my luck, probably not....

The easy answer is what voltage are getting with the current setup?

How would I hook it up to find out?

Try checking throttle position voltage while dataloging.

Yes data log tp1 when wot. Anything over 4.825 for a blink will shut the TB down. They are supposed to have stops in the the BBK units do but they were a little thin. This new design has larger stops so it doesn't get to that voltage even manually.

Will check it when I start testing the fuel system setup. But, it's a little hot out there to be testing right now. Probably wait till it cools down a little.
