Starter problem

Truck is a 2014 Ram 1500 with about 13500 miles and extended warrenty, never had any problems.Turned the key to crank and leave grocery store only sound it would make was like burning metal...loud.No codes showing, volts at 14.Tryed again, same thing...loud frying sound just like a welder burning metal.I've got a bad knee so no getting under it or getting on the front bumper for me.Called wrecker.Dealer said he would get to it in about 3 days and didn't have a loaner for me ????????? I'm figuring something is loose somewhere, what say you ?

Sounds more like burned-up starter motor or fried wiring.

Likely burned up starter or bad tipm since your truck has no relay for it. 3 days for a starter check wtf is that junk that's crazy and to think I check vehicles on the tow trucks sometimes.

sounds like they're selling a product they can't service in a reasonable amount of time

You might consider talking to a mobile mechanic and tell him you want to retrieve your truck and bring it home for him to repair. The cost of transporting to your house and repairs I would gues would probably be half of what the dealer will bend you over for.

Volts and cranking amps two diff monsters. I have seen a few batteries like that seem full power all stuff works won't start just can't push the needed amps to the starter. Glad it was easy but that's a 5 minute test you should have had that done in the hour I hate dealers
