Oxygen sensor part #

AFR is all over the place the last couple of weeks and I failed the yearly inspection emission test :-(, I'm gonna try change the O2 sensor and see if it improves.

I have a 2003 5.7 with only 1 set of 02 sensors after the Y pipe, I'm looking for the partnumber of the sensor before the cat.

Thanks.

I came up with MOPAR 56041698AA
This I got from RockAuto, they often list oem parts along with after market.

I also checked rockauto and they spoke of right hand and left hand side. I suppose 2003 was the year they switched from the single side O2 sensor to both sides?

Just wanne make sure I order the correct one, if it's the wrong one, it'll cost me more to ship back than I paid for it in the first place .

Truck has been acting up lately, haven't had the time too look into it. Going WOT it stutters at around 4000 rpm, and now the AFR is all over the place. It also failed the emissions test so something is clearly going on :-).

Have a new set of plugs, will try that combined with a new O2 sensor before I start digging deeper.

You have mentioned salvage yard parts on occasion, if there is a 03 available. You might consider picking up the sensor if its cheap. 04/05 and 06 sensors should also work but you have to grind the plugs key off for it to fit the plug socket. Ive used them mixed while testing and couldnt find any difference.

Got myself a universal one, which according to the listing should work on my truck :-) It's less than half the price of an oem one, hopefully it works :-)!

Its been said a few times that Bosch o2s sensors dont work right. Why, I have no idea. Maybe someone has an explanation. But when the oem sensor is used it works. Personally I have only used oem sensors. The ones I'm using now are used 06 oem sensors from a salvage yard. I say give it a try. If it still has a problem, them search for a oem sensor.
