Lightbulb Info Please / Hood Struts

I'm looking for upgraded and better quality replacement hood support struts to fit the Gen III 1500 hood.
Any brands, part #'s and/or suggestions most appreciated .

I bought a pair of Monroe off of eBay, don't remember the number. They have been on for a couple of years and work fine.

Thanks Greg - I just started shopping around - was looking at the 'StrongArm' brand hoping they are actually better than OEM but don't know. They are supposed to be American made but some say not so? Price isn't an issue just need high quality and more holding strength. I'll look at the Monroe too .

I think mine came from Rock Auto. When you start removing them, prop the hood or have someone hold it. Learned that the hard way.

I was hoping the monroe would be somewhat visually impressive, there are not. My hood is slightly heavier than the original and they hold it good even in cold weather which seems to be their general weakness.

I was looking for something like that too in an upgraded model - maybe in billet or chrome but no luck .

I've decided to try a pair of the StrongArm part#4364 hood support struts...we'll see if they are any good??? There's probably not much difference in any of them if they fit the application...

I've had the Strongarm's a couple of years now with no issue's. They are stronger than the original's. I would recommend them as an upgraded replacement over stock. As far as the look's I put some billet aluminum cover's on mine. (an option over the stock look) Here's a pic so you see what they look like.
