Help... Shifter Won’t Shift Out Of Park

Hello everyone,

As some of you may know from the other thread “Need a Helping Hand on FL West Coast” our HTC family member Nathan, had a massive fuel leak throughout the whole black braided 8AN supply line. We replaced everything from the tank to the rails, and the leaks are all gone. While getting ready to take it for a drive, we discovered the shifter on the column wouldn’t shift out of park. Disappointing to say the least after being off the road for close to a year.

Nathan’s truck is a 2007 SLT Incase anyone reading isn’t aware of it. The brake lights do work when you apply them, so this may rule out a faulty brake switch, however the truck does start without putting you foot on the brake. I disconnected the linkage bracket from the transmission, just to make sure it wasn’t something internal transmission related, but that didn’t work. I’m leaning towards it being Park Safety Ignition Interlock Solenoid which disengages once it receives a signal from the ignition and the brake pedal.

Let me know what you guys think it could be. Thank you all for reading and commenting.

I stripped the BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock) out when I went a floor shift. But doing some quick reading on this problem is it's simply stuck and needs some wd40 squirted up in the area.

It’s likely a stuck interlock and needs some lube and a tap or two. It’s a small little solenoid style device easy to test also just odd that it’s stuck but simple fix of that’s it

I guess I will have it towed to the dealer to see if they can get it to work
