Fuel Pump? 2005 5.7

Yesterday, I washed the GTX,(2005) getting it ready for it's 1st car show/cruise nite, started it up moved it back to it's spot, ran in cleaned my a$$ up ,about 1/2 hour later went to start the GTX, and it turns over but won't fire . I checked some fuses, swapped the pump relay with a similar relay. cycled the key a few times , then noticed I didn't hear the pump run, then I check the fuel rail schrader valve ...just a trickle came out( I did not attach a gauge to it) , hit the key a few more times...more wishful thinking than logic...all of a sudden the pump ran and vibrated the whole truck, but no start, disconnected the battery came back 1/2 hour later hooked it back up and again it turns over but no start, I didn't try spraying and either in the intake, and I did not check the coils yet.
Could it be a ground issue , or do you think the pump fried? truck has 143K on it. I'm bringing the code reader home from work today to check.
..and Sunday was such a beautiful day here in the Philly area.

Sounds like your fuel pump is toast. It has had a lot of run time.

The pump will only run a few seconds when the ignition key is first turned on. You can open the cap and listen while someone turns the ignition on. Or check pressure at the schieder valve on the rail with someone turning the ignition on. Have a rag over so has not to spray.
Does sounds like pump...

Do you "run it down to fumes" a lot?

I'm still on the 1st tank since I bought it on 4/07. It was just about empty when I picked it up, I filled it before I headed home from the dealer, now who knows what the original owner did. Judging by the 1 year old expired inspection sticker I sure it sat for at least a year before it was traded in.

If the previous owner waited 'til the low-fuel light came on often, it likely wants a new pump.

Sounds like a fuel pump issue.

Chevy leaves you stuck at the pump every time
Ford dies on the road every time
Dodge dies at random times usually when trying to do something simple every time

I copied that setup when I first built mine. It worked good. I'd post pictures but they are the same as keiths. Lol it also does all the changes needed if you decide to go with a different tank at some time. I like having an adjustable external regulator.
