Fan running when Heater on

I noticed when I turn the heater on, a fan up front also kicks on. (I think AC fan) Turn the heater off, and fan stops.

Is this normal? I dont really see the point in it. And I dont recall it doing that in the past. But its the gf's truck. So not positive.

I do know there is a 'flap' that is broke in the heater ducting somewhere, so the heater pretty much sucks ***. But thats a different thread i'll be starting later.

Every vehicle with A/C does this. The compressor helps remove the moisture that can fog up the inside of the windshield.

There should be a button on the center stack that turns the compressor off. That'll turn the condenser fan off.

The A/C will always cycle on with the HVAC setting on defrost.

Thank you. I messed around with a few settings, and that appears to be whats going on. Much appreciated.
