Reading about the Megasquirt it sounds like it has a lot of capabilities. I still don't know if it is a complete answer or not. But thought it might be helpful to have a single thread to keep track of what is known about it. I have emailed them to see if there a kit already available for an 03. I'll post what I find. Anyone who has experience or information it would be great to hear about what you have done.
I always admire work around approaches to limitations. It would seem if the tire offset was set to just above trap speed that it would mimunize the changes to the shift points. Still doesn't address rpm limiter and the possibility of ABS corruption. Good luck...
Yes, the ABS light is flashing Greg. Going to set the tire size to 28-29" and see if the ABS goes off. Only need to set the tire size just enough where the speed and maybe the rev limiters don't engage. The shift points don't seem to have changed? It is a Sharadon stage III trans.

Stu, I'm sorry to hear that the ABS is throwing a DTC as in my case only a dealership reset would turn it off and of course it is on your dime. Also you will need to unload your tune before letting the dealer plug in for the reset. In my case I was a slow learner and on the second or third round I asked them to also load the latest PCM version hoping that would be the cure and that's when I found they couldn't and that the PCM was locked up. Good luck...

what size you set tire at should not matter. it's worth a try to set tire size for 28-29", but it looks like the ABS issue still exists for 03 Rams...........

Tire size has been working for years, and is not even part of the calibration, but then again, what do we know about NGC's?

I have not had any 03 Ram owners complain to us about tire size not working in about a year, as we have always done whatever is needed to update the tools to fix bugs in the field. Its entirely possible that there is a calid or two that still have a problem, but I am not seeing it.
When I was trying to correct this problem I was told by the dealer that my ABS had lost sync between the CAB and wheels. There is a self check and initialization that takes place each time the ignition is turned on and a check at 15 mph. My theory is that Diablo writes the newly adjusted tire size in an incomplete manner so that the signals never sync causing a DTC. As for locking the PCM, there is no doubt in my mind that a stray bit of code gets left behind that does not allow itself to be over written keeping any updates from being confirmed and completed. I wish you luck as all repairs will have to be done at your expense as Diablo clearly does not acknowledge the problem.

Thanks Greg. Would anything happen that you know of if I didn't have the dealership reset the ABS? Or, will the PCM still lock up?
My brakes felt different with the DTC flashing, As for the PCM lock, it was only affected when I tried to load another tuner or updated. For your sake I would like Mike to come back with something other than telling you what a unique problem and it can't be blamed on the Diablo tuner. Clearly there is a long history of this issue with 03's and Diablo should have done the right thing a long time ago and dropped the 03 model from their supported list. Good luck... I really need to get back and start on the MegaSquirt project.....
Here is a Megasquirt install on a race car. Brings up the question of what did they do to control the trans which doesn't really matter if installing parallel with the OEM PCM.
The reason they used a drag PAC was because it has no trans computer it's all mechanical slap shifter stock that is a drag car the can be driven on the street if needed so far the only way I see doing megasquirt is with a manual swap or a Chevy trans until someone makes a way to control 545 that is not crazy expensive
Thanks Greg. Was hoping this wouldn't really affect the truck for the Gainesville GTG. I'm hoping to get the truck into the 12s in full street trim with OEM wheels and tires.

Lets hope you make it, you've put a lot of work in the old girl. I would test the brakes some with a couple relatively high speed stops. As for the Megasquirt install, I see this very doable if installed parallel with the OEM PCM/TCM. Might even try a B&G trans tune. I intend to use load boards for both ignition and injectors. Making the OEM PCM into thinking it is doing it's job when it is actual just throwing signals at the dummy loads.
I feel lucky to have it along with the KRC tune. The fact of the matter is. "It's an 03"..... The Ba$tard Step Child Of Tuning......
This is just one of many problems that the 03s have. I guess you could say, I like the challenge.
Without Diablo, my truck would be where it's at right now. I've been using the same Diablo since 09. With that being said, I have to say..... Thank you Diablo and Mike for your support in helping me to get my truck where it is now.
PS. Working with each other respectfully will only bring positive results. HTC Rules!!!!!
I know what you mean, Main project this year is of course the Megasquirt install. Then the full keyless ignition. Finish the floorshifter with out of "Park" ignition off alert. Battery re-location. With a goal of low 13's on stock block and heads. I really enjoy the old girl, quirks and all.
I'm gonna mention this on the CMR forum. fairly certain Mike L. has seen this, since he was monitoring "Redtruck-VA's" remarks very closely for several days.

No, haven't been on the Diablo forum. Could check it out.
Have thought about doing a YouTube vid on my blinking ABS light after a tire size adjustment with the Diablo tuner. It would be a dead give away that I have an 03 though.
Shouldn't bother PCM at all system is inactive equvalant to turning traction off on an srt
