How to Reprogram PCM? 2005 dodge ram 2500 5.7l hemi

Hey there everyone

Im having issues with a 2005 dodge ram 2500 5.7l hemi, my driver side fuel injectors and 4 coils on the same side are not getting any power. my friend has changed the cam and crank sensors, he has checked for broken wires and ground wires being broken and has found nothing. Ive been helping him in trying to fix it but nothing so far. Im wondering if its the pcm, he went to the local pick and pull and picked up 2 used pcm's one from a 2003 and 2005 dodge ram..

now my question is how would i go about reprogramming the used pcm's to work with his truck? what hardware and software would i need? i found techauthority and it has some info but im unclear on what obd2 to usb cable i need to buy to make it work. please if anyone can help its greatly apperiated. Thanks in advance.

Are you saying the driver's side coils and injectors have no 12v going to them or that they aren't working? The 03 pcm is trash. The 05 pcm maybe useable. First you need to determine if your truck has SKIM activated. What key do you have? Is it a large secuity key or the slimmer black non-security key. The 05 pcm you got from the pick & pull, did it come from a truck with SKIM activated? If it was pulled from a truck, was there a key in it? Again, what does the key look like? If there is no key then the steering column cover needs to be removed around the ignition to see if an immobilizer is installed. If it has an immobilizer then the the pcm is SKIM activated. Do not install a unknown pcm into your truck until you detemine if it has SKIM activated or not. The 12v supply for the coils and injectors are tied together. If there is voltage only to one side then mostly you have a broken wire. Does your fuel pump run for a few seconds when the ignition is first turned on?

Thats correct the left bank has no power coming to the coils and the injectors, i will go and check the wiring to see if there are any broken or damaged wires. The key of the truck is gray in color so im sure its skim activated. the pcm from the other truck my friend got, im not 100% sure.

I wanted to warn you about indiscriminately swapping pcm's. But I'm with Keith that it is wiring, not pcm problem.. I would check the plug. It's difficult to reach and can be hard to seat. Actually I had forgotten the power came in through that plug. I was thinking it came from the driverside front. That's were mine is, but it has been changed more than once.
