Well that's a first

Blew the side out of my muffler. Looks like I'll be firing up the welder

Do you have any blockage that would build pressure causing the muffler to split? Internal collapse.

I dont know to be honest. I just put on headers and an exhaust cut out. I can pop it off and take a look. It is 10 years old. Seems like it has good flow coming out the tail pipes

Likely just failed swap it out they are very thin stock.

It's a magnaflow 1 in 2 out. I think I'm going to tack weld it. It looks like a pain to change

Brings back memories of driving an old 1964 4-banger Ford Falcon - kill the engine while driving and pump the gas pedal as you go through a tunnel - turn on the engine again and hear the backfire scare the hell outta' everyone . Sometimes the muffler would blow but most of the time it held together .
Was great fun back in the simple days of yesteryear .

I remember doing that back in the 70's with my 68 GTO. could get some flames out the pipes too.
