School me on shorty headers please

...the sound,I can't really give you an accurate description....when we installed them at the fore mentioned GTG,they were not fully welded yet(the down-pipes from the collectors to the cats). When I got home,I went to the muffler shop and had them install new pipes from the cat back(2 1/2" diameter) into my flowmaster y-pipe to a single in/single out Magnaflow that exited in the stock location. Not as quiet as stock. Pretty quiet at idle. Also, now,I have a Comp 260 cam and a different Magnaflow--single in/double out/dumped....off-idle to highway cruising--very noticable....sorry--I never did any sound-bites...

Didn't want to start a new thread for a shorty header question.

I'm not out to build the quickest truck in the world, just looking for something that will help the engine flow better and sound better, without running longtubes. Will shorty's be the right choice for me?
No. The power and flow gains are not worth the time required to install them.

LT's are definitely worth the wait. While shorties are not optimal, they are a good improvement over stock manifolds but I'd go LT's all the way...there is no other option.
