I have a 2004 Ram 1500 Hemi Sport Edition 4x4. I want to get an exhaust that has that well rounded performance sound. Don't want it too loud but not to soft either. I want it sound like there is even more under the hood than there already is. Suggestions please

I always liked Borla on my '07, definitely not the cheapest route but good idle and cruising tone, still sounds like you got some ants in the pants when you get on it. Prefer it over my magnaflow on my '11.

Cut the factory muffler out and install an aero303xl with the exhaust still run out the back will bark when stomped and be nice when Cruseing

This is a subject everyone can state their opinion. I first ran a Flowmaster si/do and felt I lost power, sounded good, but also had a highway drone. I've since completely redone the exhaust and my choice is a Magnaflow.

Good luck with your selection, keep in mind a baffle type muffler is very restrictive.

If you are staying with single exhaust on your 2004 I'd recommend replacing the factory y-pipe with an aftermarket one like Magnaflow. The factory y-pipe is very restrictive.

Take a look and listen here at Cherry Bomb Mufflers - they don't only make glass packs.....

8 months after I bought my truck I went and purchased their Elite Muffler, I had wanted to get their Extreme model but the salesman mentioned the fact that I'd probably have every cop and CHP officer between Sacramento and San Diego chasing me to give me a ticket. LOL

I did keep my Borla Resonator Tips on the exhaust and those helped quiet it down some - actually sounded really nice but now they're almost 7.5 yrs old and about worn out (as far as what ever was used to make them into resonators) and the truck is getting a bit louder but so far no tickets...

I'm thinking of trying one of these out, too. Since I'm not in California, probably their Extreme model. Did you cut out the resonators as well?

No they're still installed. If you go to that link and click on the type of muffler they have a sound file so you can hear what it sounds like.

I was looking for (but can't find the link) my vid we did when I installed the Cutout - you can hear how it sounds with the resonators. It does quiet it down some but when you get your foot into it, nope.. it gets loud LOL
