Opening up exhaust

You guys are confirming what I always thought, cat back and manifold back systems make noise and not much HP, torque and MPGs! So everybody is running long tube headers for real Improvement? Who has run a complete mfgr system, magnaflow or borla and do you have an x pipe or balance tube?

Anyone used the MBRP systems or components? I see them on eBay but, I think they are aluminized and not stainless?

If I ever do replace my system from engine to bumper I will use the complete matched Dynatech stainless steel component system .

The Dyno runs are done with OEM mufflers and tailpipes. Actually in some cases on dyno testing we found an aftermarket catback system can cause the engine not to create enough back pressure and can make it lose horsepower. Iíve seen as much as 5-7hp loss by adding a catback system.

Huh, do you use OEM mufflers and tailpipes for the Dyno test on your systems? To me it makes no sense to install an aftermarket collection system then reduce it's efficiency by with the back pressure of the factory back half?

Fred,

Sorry that was a typo that should have read we do not offer a muffler and tailpipe system.

Fred,

The part number we have for the 06 Dodge 4wd SLT headers is # 724-84710 and the intermediate tubes with cats is # 724-84720. Our system bolts up to the factory from the front of the muffler back. We do offer a muffler and tailpipe system for that application however any other aftermarket back half should mate up to our system. If you have any more questions or would like to order our system please let me know.

Thanks,

Rick Galloway

The systems that I've seen installed all used Magnaflow polished stainless steel parts connected to the Dynatech SUPERMAXX header and cat system. This is NOT a cut rate or cheap system - do not expect to save money if you want it .

I don't see the sense in spending $1500 on headers. I understand it come with the y pipe w/ cats. But there are other options. I have $700 in my header set up. If I did it again the only thing I would do differently is get everything ceramic coated. Just my .02

Think I talk to some of our members on this subject. They thought I was crazy. But, it does depend on if it's the stock cam, heads, stroker, tuning ect. ect.......

Just looking at this from the other side as I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time. If you use a high quality stainless system and spend $1500 on it and it is a one time investment and in my case I have a Pacesetter ceramic headers and ORY, Magnaflow cats and muffler. Both the cats and muffler need to be replaced after four years. The headers probably in another three. I have about $1000 in it I think. So within the next three years I'm going to have to spend at least that again to keep it right. This makes me think that the $1500 for a good stainless system isn't that bad. Anyway my 2 cents..

Just FYI, if you have Jet Hot coating, it is guaranteed for life. You pay shipping to them and they take care of the rest. I sent mine in while I had the engine apart and they look like new again. Cost me 100 bucks to have them boxed and shipped.
