Well for some odd reason my muffler just rotted out on my '04 RAM QC. I was able to save the pipe/resonator section (in good shape) and the pipe before the muffler is good too. So, I am trying to figure our the best game plan for a muffler replacement. I don't need it to loud, but a little rumble wouldn't hurt ;-). I know there are alot of opinions out there and i will take them all. For some odd reason all the local shops are giving me the run around regarding getting a performance muffler, either they can't get one for me or it is not in their computer. I was thinking something like the new Dynomax VT, but I cannot find a part number to order (for some reason they don't make one for the 2004). Any other muffler brand is fine with me too. I am trying to keep parts and install <$300 if possible.. I just need to keep the WAF low too..(WAF for all you non-married guys is the Wife Acceptance factor :-), if she isn't happy,,,, well you know the rest ;-) ) Thanks for any help you can give...

a 18" magnaflow with the factory resonator on the end should be up your alley, not loud at all just a little more rumble

I would go to a muffler shop and tell them that you want to replace the OEM muffler with a quality muffler that has a little more rumble. See what they offer and compare prices. No need to put on a real high end performnace muffler but you will want stainless steel. If you want to get more involved, then measure what you have and lookup mufflers on a site like Summit to decide what you want, then armed with a pn number you can order the muffler from one of our sponsers or give the number to the shop and have them get it. This allows you to know the retail price of the muffler and with the labor costs from the shop should prevent you from being ripped off.. good luck..

Thanks for the responses. Looks like the factory muffler was about 27 long and 5 inches on either side( that is my best guess since it rotted off). If anybody has a part number for me to go by that would be great, I think it is 2.5 inlet and 2.5 outlet correct ?. Thanks again..
