Muffler with dumps and tips

Anyone ever swap the muffler out and just do dumps on the muffler but find a way to keep the tips in the bumper? I haven't looked but I was thinking of doing that for cost. Figure why run a bunch of pipe from muffler to the tips to cancel out the resonators when I can just dump it like I did my last truck. Just cut the pipe at the closest hanger to each tip so they will hang right still. Save hundreds of dollars keeping away from a shop.

Can't you just replace the muffler and use the stock pipes? Or straight pipe the muffler and just leave the resonators.

Ya....I was lookin to can the resonators too though so basically straight Muffler and run pipe to the tips but then I was like, well.......do you need the pipe between? I had a dump on my last truck and it sounded great.

Dumps are common. But I wouldn't leave the tips in place if they aren't being used. Like everything, personal choice.

That's the first time I've heard dumping the exhaust causing all those issues. I ruined a spare once with having a pipe too close to it. I'll keep an eye on it as my gas tank is behind the axle. It'll be easy enough to check on.
