Magnaglow Question

I have been reading up on mufflers on here. I see a lot of people use the 14" Magnaflow and some use the 18" magnaglow for a little quieter but good sound. My question is which one do I get? There are so many 14" and 18" mufflers. Round and oval and all different size muffler circumferences. I am wanting a SI/SO. Any suggestions with part numbers? Thank you.

its personal preference really i had the 14...nice sound but too quiet for me ...im running no muffler now with just the little resonators on the end....love it. way to loud for most.i dont know which truck you have much it basicly breaks down like this or so i believe not 100% on the 03-05..this is the in/out sizes:

03-05 2.5"
06-08 3"
09-13 3" and 2.25 after muffler on duals...

I have the 14" Magnaflow and love it. Its not too loud but its loud enough to get attention...and comments.

I ran my old chevy truck with cat only (legal) with full length pipes and it sound great. A friend tried to run the same setup on his 98' 360 truck and it was too loud. I now use a 36" Magnaflow SI/DO and like it, Not overwhelming going down the road, but when you stand on it, it really wakes up. The 03 being different from the others with a single cat needs a "Y" pipe and a 3" inlet as that is the size coming off the cat.

Edit: this is the one that would work best IMO, at least for me if I was going to use a single outlet. 3" outlet lets you dump it with little restriction and you can still use a 2-1/2 reducer if you want to run a pipe out behind the wheel.

My 05 is 3" behind the y pipe. I went withe 18" and a cutout. This way when my wife and kids are in the truck I close the cutout and its not obnoxiously loud. And if I'm by myself I open the cutout. Best of both worlds

I have pacestter LT's, no cats, off road y pipe and a 3" si/so 14" magnaflow and it is quiet enough not to wake the neighbours if i come home late but plenty loud enough when you want it to be.
