Wanting to switch my FM for a Magnaflow. Im wondering will the !8" long 3" in and dual 2.5in out have the same performance gain as the 3in 3out muffler?

The dual out will in theory flow more cfm than the single 3". You are not going to see any performance gains other than from the muffler brand change. The sound would change with the dual tails vs the single.

Hmm that would explain the TQ loss when I swapped out my Gibsons dual sport for my 3" in 3" out Aeroturbine 3030 but I was told that single in single out would give me more TQ over the 3 inch in with single muffler dual exit system (Gibsons)? should I go with just true duals then?

There is noticeable difference in sound and power. Not as loud as the flowmaster i had. I think alot of the power is from the Magnaflow y pipe.

My observation was when my truck was new I swapped out the OEM with a Flowmaster 3" in/dual 2-1/2" out and got a drop in torque. Sounded great. The lost nagged at me, but I continued to run it for a few years. I then swapped the FM for a Magnaflow 30" 3"inlet with dual 2-1/2" outlets and got the lost power back. Swapped the single 03 OEM 3" cat with a Magnaflow Highflow cat and lost a couple of tenths on my 0-60 mph times. IMO any of the quality 3" straight through muffles are good. Highflow cats in pairs wiil outflow a single 03 OEM cat. A pair of 03 OEM cats will outflow the after market cats. I now have LT's with a 3" Y pie and dual Magnaflow spun cats with the 30" straight through Magnaflow muffler and is is as strong as it has ever been. Good luck.
