Locking header bolts

Okay, so I am gonna start piecing together my header and y pipe setup over the next few months so I can replace the manifolds in the spring/summer since the passenger one is leaking and I have a bad cat too. I am going with the LT JBA Ceramics and y pipe as far as that goes and I am going to get the Mopar exhaust mani gaskets as everyone seems to agree those are best.

So, that leads me to only needing to isolate the bolts I want. I definitely want locking bolts so when I get the headers I am gonna get just that. No gaskets/bolts etc as that takes a few hundred off the price too on ebay and leaves me the option of getting better stuff anyways. But I have seen ARP and Stage 8 thrown out there. What are your experiences with locking header bolts? Looking for best brands and what size am I looking for?

That's the generally used combo. Next time headers are off on mine I'll use the proven oem gaskets and studs.

Since studs are stronger than bolts I plan to use ARP studs, with nuts drilled for safety wire. I will also use Mopar gaskets on the stainless steel American Racing headers/Y pipe.

Well, started piecing stuff together this week. Got the gaskets coming. I already ordered and got 2 02 extensions for the headers. Gonna use one now to take care of this code til I get everything. Ordered my muffler as well. Probably going to go ahead and cut the exhaust out and hang the muffler with a dump like I did on my last two trucks. Got the other parts in my Wish List on Moes. Wanna get it all together in the next few months so I can put in in the spring hopefully. I think between the exhaust leak and the bad cat I am probably having the little shimmy in my idle I feel. Figure the headers and exhaust will either kick it or make it so loud and rumbly I won't be able to tell anyways...lol.

Stanger it is not either or. You can use the y pipe and still use two cats. You just cut a section from the y pipe and replace the section with a cat.
