I thought i might get some suggestions on headers since the last time i installed headers was on a Mustang almost 30 years ago and i am sure the quality is alot better now. I have a 2005 6 speed 2500 2 wheel drive and it looks like i would have to go with the shorty headers. I have always used long tubes and liked the sound it gave true dual exhaust. I have no experience with shorty headers. It looks like it would bolt up to stock without alot of trouble and it would be easy to go back to stock manifolds if that was needed. My question is are the shorties much better than cast iron manifolds as far as performance goes and do these give that "header" sound to a dual straight through exhaust(no cats)? Any suggestions on a reasonably priced set? My truck is not my daily driver so it is not driven alot. Is it really worth it?

i would recommend going with headers for sure. i was going to put some on my 2004 2500 4x4 but there was some mix up with what i had. its not that hard to install if you go with shorty headers. it takes about 5 hours to do the job. i had mine tore all the way down just to find out they wouldnt work. so i just put new studs and a new guasket. but i know if you wanted to go with long tube headers ARH american racing headers has got a long tube set that come with the high flow cats and you can make it into true duel exhaust if you wanted to. they go for about 1600 bucks tho. while the shortys depending on the brand go anywhere from 230-1100 bucks. good luck with whatever you decide to do.
