Sup yall. I just posted a pic of my split muffler. When I was under there I realized every clamp I just put on is leaking. I used clamps they supplied in the kit. They're all lap joint clamps and each on leaks. Any ideas? I tried moving them and tightening them again. I just cant seem to figure this out. Maybe need a new style clamp. Pictures to follow shortly

I use some of those band clamps and they all leak. I’ll be welding v bands on real soon

Clamps suck... Only thing you can do with them is put the ultra copper exhaust gasket maker RTV in the joint, switch over to v-band joints, or have every joint welded.

Clean welds with nice beads, check and check again

I was afraid that was the answer. I like the idea of clamps but they all suck. It's not so bad when everything warms up but that cold start

I have the stainless steel band clamps on 3" pipe that don't leak. I cut 4 slots in the outer pipe that allows it to compress when the band tightens. I use a pipe expander to make the pipe fit properly and take care when assembled. The vband are superior IMO and will change over to them in the future.
