Couple questions on exhaust

Hey guys
I just rolled over 600 miles on my 17 crew cab long bed 6.4 hemi truck
I am really liking the truck other than it is just to quiet lol
So I am looking into a new exhaust setup I will use a local shop
I can't decide between a big single to dual outlet
Or
True dual
I have had two 5.7 hemi 1/2 ton trucks and just had the muffler cut out and a flow master installed and loved the sound
I have read several threads on this but not quite got the answer I was looking for
I have read the factory Y pipe is restrictive and needs replaced with a better system
Also to equalize pressures a Y pipe is best
My questions are this
On my half ton it was a single in dual out and had the exhaust cutout in the bumper

On this truck no cutouts but if I run the pipes out from under the bumper will that effect the park sense sensors with the steam, Heat etc or should I go diagonal to each rear corner
Also in order to keep the back pressure for torque what would be the best
A big single to dual setup
Or
True dual with Y pipe
On either of these what would be the optimum diameter pipe to use on either application

I am probably looking at a cat back system for now to free up the flow and let that hemi roar like I think it should lol
I don't have any header or intake upgrades planned at the time
Maybe a K&N air filter
But for now I just want to Hear it lol
Any info would be great
Thank y'all
Mike

Talking

You will literally get MANY OPINIONS and most people have good suggestions and good intentions. Staying with high quality materials is a must and then looking for the sound 'you like' is the most important factor.
I can only tell you what suits 'me' best after several attempts of looking for the optimum sound:
I prefer using the 3" in/out MagnaFlow Y-Pipe into an Aero Turbine muffler all 3" single pipe or bigger if you wish... with no resonator and run straight out the back into a twin tip. Use stainless pipe if possible. Unless you're going with a highly modified beefy engine with headers something similar to this will work fine.

My 2 Cents,

With it being a new truck without headers you might consider a muffler of your choice to simply replace the oem muffler. If it has resonators you might try removing them before replacing the oem muffler. It's all personal choice.

Thanks guys
I was thinking a better flowing Y pipe
Then 3" single to a muffler flowmaster, magnaflow or whatever then splitting into dual straight out the back under the bumper with some tips

I'm gonna call a couple shops around here and see what I can come up with
If I remember that is what both my 5.7 hemi had and it sounded great and I like the look

I mainly don't want to compromise torque or mpg on the truck
I just want it to make some noise
Thanks
Mike

Just insist on high quality workmanship with your installer...far too many of us have seen nice quality components screwed-up by an ignorant shop .

Thanks for the replies guys
I have an appt this afternoon with a very well known shop in town
He is going to replace my stock muffler with a magnaflow for $150
He suggested I hear it with the resonator first then decide if I want it removed
He said with the magnaflow and without the resonator it gets pretty loud towing
I'll keep y'all posted
I am going this route for now just for the sound
Once I've had the truck awhile I hope to do a split system out the back
I have heard the half ton bumpers with the exhaust cutouts will fit the 2500 trucks
Anyone tried this??
If so that will be my future plan to put the cutout bumper on and split it like both my half tons were
I liked the style of those and they sounded awesome

So I ended up with a magnaflow muffler and cutting out the resonator
I think it sounds great
On the highway headed home didn't get any done
In town when mds is activated it sounds a little different but not too bad
He said it may get a little louder
That would be ok with me lol

I use a 36" MagnaFlow 3" straight through... mines dumped right out of the muffler. It's loud at wot, but cruise it's good...
Mufflers are a personal choice.

I was at the dealer a few days ago. I was talking to a guy that I met and he told me of a performance exhaust put out by RAM. I checked it out against the setup on my sport Hemi and sure enough it has larger pipes and tips. The sound is more throaty and just sounds better. It supposedly adds to the performance. I did not ask about price but I will bet this is made by Borla or some other company.
