Borla ProXs muffler for '04 1500 has an awesome sound

Paired with the already deep sounding 5.7 the sound is great and has a nice deep growl to it. Noticeable at idle but not loud enough to annoy my neighbors at 5am.........after the cold start that is lol. Cut wide open it'll let everyone know your coming, and doesn't drowned out radio or conversation when cruising.

I have a weld on 3" center in offset out (PN#40353) tail pipe dumps after axle with a weld on Borla intercooled 4 1/2" rolled angle cut tip. Tail pipe resonator was removed, which kept a little drone around 1800-2000 rpms. Added K&N air intake which pretty much all but eliminated that drone and enhanced the deep growl. No annoying poppy raspy sound at all, just a sweet high performance sounding truck.

I have the pro xs as well, it’s been the best muffler I’ve had yet but the idle could be better sounding in my opinion. Might change it up soon

Does your tail pipe come all the way out to the bumper or does it dump after the back axle? Mine has a nice rumble to it, but I left the other resonator thats in between the cats and muffler so it wouldn't be that loud also. The borla tip I chose (pn# 20251) is only 4" in length, so it doesn't get any echo. And according to borla, their short, intercooled, tips are made to smooth out the tone. Id be lying if I told you it does though lol.

You could maybe shorten the tail pipe length and dump it like mine, if you'd isn't like that already because mine is noticeable but not quiet. The air intake also helped give it a tad bit more volume.

I couldn't really get a good video of how it sounded because of the wind the other day, but this is how mine is set up.

Oh mines definetly loud, longtube headers, no cats, and it dumps out in front of the rear tire. I have a pretty decent size cam and in my opinion the idle isn’t as awesome as I want it to be. I might be changing to a x pipe with dual straight through mufflers to really keep the neighbors from trying to get friendly

Oh well yea, yours is probably louder than mine lol. I've read a lot of people say their proxs is to quiet at idle or cruise, I figured that's what you were talking about. I bet yours sounds pretty damn good, but yea I could see how this muffler wouldn't be as loud as most with your particular setup. I bet that borla xr1 would give you the extra kick you are looking for.

I was going to get the xr1 at first but there were more people saying it was really loud than the people saying it was what I was looking for, even though it sounds awesome on all the videos I've seen. Ive always liked having sleepers and i like that deep low key rumbleat idle and cruise, that baits Chevy's and Ford's in for a little fun, little tuners too. I'll save the loudness for later when I'm ready to do to the rest of the exhaust and put a cam in.
