question about the hood.

my truck has the scooped hood, but it looks to me like the opening just has a plastic black plug. is that thing actually funtional, and if it isn't do i need it to be to add CAI.

if i do need that open, do i need a whole different hood, or a different peice in the opening?? sorry for the dumb question, but i'm new.

question about the hood.

No dumb questions here my friend! Your hood scoop is presently non-functional... it's just for looks. I believe it's held on with a combination of rivets and double-sided tape.

There's a member here who made his functional, but I can't remember who it was

question about the hood.

You can make it functional but it won't do much more than add additional cooling to the engine bay.

The other day I was running the data logging on my SC, watching the incoming air temp. sitting at a stop light the IAT would rise to 20 - 23*C, but driving @ 30-35mph the IAT dropped to 10-15*C.

If you just open the hole in the hood it's not going todo much but if you can get that air to the air cleaner it works great.

question about the hood.

That is 100% correct. All these hoods with scoops/openings like the Sport/Rumblebee, Srt-10, and several others are really doing is cooling the engine bay better. Not that that is a bad thing....just that you won't gain anything from the intake system unless your intake is right behind the opening (like the 6 pack intake I am designing, and even then it really needs to be a fully enclosed system to work perferctly.
