Novi 1000 Install

Hi everyone,

I have a 2003 hemi that I have cammed with a comp 260. I have the ability to purchase a Novi 1000 meant for a 4.7L magnum for cheap. I plan on retrofitting this onto the hemi to step it up to the next level. Currently I have done:
-OBX longtubes
-True ram air intake routed to the deleted AC condenser position(would likely change)
-4.56 gears
-Efan in the works
-full 2005 PCM swap so I can tune for the cam and charger. Currently running a superchips 3865 but have a trinity for custom tuning

The plan for the supercharger is to merge the mounting plate from the 4.7L kit with the base plate meant for a Novi 1200 bolt up on the hemi. I will also be using a 4th gen diesel intercooler. I want to install a waste gate on the intake tube set for 6 psi so I can pulley the supercharger to make 6 psi at ~3500 rpm and maintain 6 psi up to redline.

The install should be pretty straight forward. I have a buddy that could tig weld the supercharger outlet to the correct position, and also attach the waste gate mounting flange to the intake tube. What I am uncertain on is:
-Injectors. Thinking of running SRT 4 injectors with 3.0bar map
-Upgraded fuel pump. No idea what I would need
-Wastegate sizing. Again no idea what size I would need. I know the supercharger is rated for 850 cfm at 15 psi max.
-Spark plugs to run

I would be getting it tuned at a local race shop but would like to arrive with parts installed that will make tuning possible for the goal I have in mind.

Does anyone have any input? Perhaps I am being to ambitious haha!

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum, there's a few folks on here who are running SC. Are going to mount the SC on the passenger side? The 05 pcm conversion if definitely what I would recommend as I have been modifying and screwing with the 03 pcm for years and have done pretty well until running boost. Do a little searching on here and I'm sure you will find a lot of reading. Good luck.

Hey Red,

I was actually the guy that started that 2003 to 2005 PCM swap thread and you guys were a ton of help. It's seen a ton of action since then.

I did a search, couldn't find anything on using a wastegate on a super here but I am a newbie to the search tool. Seems to be a common thing in the mustang crowd to add a wastegate to the intake tube of a centrifugal supercharger though. I doubt I am the first guy with a hemi to think about it!

I wish I still had access to CFD software at school, I could use it to have a starting point at least on size. Without it, I think using someone else's setup as a baseline would be the best starting point.

Well, welcome back. I'm new at SC and I don't think anyone is using one on their sc. But I'm pretty sure Stu has one on his turbo setup. The BOV I'm using is 50mm, so I think that would be the size you'd use.

Ok here goes. First off the novi1000 is small I would get at least a 1200 leaves you open to upgrade to the 1500 or the Ysiv7 from proccharger! The blower will go on the right side of the engine and have the pulley facing forward. Oil is on that side so that's easy to figure out. The drain back if it has one is the tricky part you will have to tap the oil pan( if you need pictures of this I can get them off my truck). Waste gates are not used on blowers since they are completely variable and rpm dependent. Get a blow off valve put the weakest spring you can get in it and run a 3.75" pulley on the 1000 and you should get 3-4lbs quick and build 5-7 up high. If you get a bigger blower than you need you can do the waste gate setup to bleed the extra boost off I have seen this before it's very loud though lol. I am running a 50mm BOV ysiv7 and a 3.5" pulley and I make 11-13 lbs in 76 degree air but my blower is 1600cfm. You have a little work ahead of you with the 1000 as the brackets are not the same.
