Ok like I stated before, I have been toying with an intake system for the Srt-10 hood and other open style hood owners. Here is what I have done so far:

1. Bought a Vararam intake system. Attempted to make it work with my Srt-10 bumper setup, but never got it to where I wanted it.

2. Bought a chrome Mopar 6 pack intake cover lid

3. Bought a K&N 6pack replacement filter.

4. Cut the bottom out of the Vararam intake setup

5. Used muffler tape, taped up the bottom of the Vararam intake piece I cut out, and shaped it to the filter as best I could

6. Put the three pieces together, installed it, and wa-la! Sweet old school style intake system that works, really gives that sucking sound like old intakes used to do, revs really nice, and looks sweet as hell!

7. The bottom is a work in progress. I am going to see if I can get it cast out of fiberglass or built out of stainless or aluminum, as the plastic is not really that sturdy by itself (taping it really helped a bunch!)

Fabricated that should really be a winner for that type hood.
In my younger days I had a 69- 442.
All I did for more air at that time was turn the lid of the air cleaner
over to expose the filter.
Living in Chicago I had several encounters with some folks who would walk or stand in your way to get you to stop for any number of devious causes.

Slip that four speed down a gear and open that 400 Ci. & 4B Carb up and that Waaaaaaa and sucking sound would scatter them like flys every time.

Dang! That is just plain dead sexy, Duane. When I read the thread in my e-mail box (without the pictures showing), I thought, "Oh, big deal...another intake." As I read about your progress, I thought, "This should be interesting...a taped up, oddly formed prototype that might one day end up as something usable...I guess I'll take a look."

But that "prototype" is really hot. I don't even HAVE and SRT-10 hood yet, and I'm drooling over how sweet that thing looks.

You, sir, are quite the talented man. Can't wait to see the final product!

Thank you guys. I got a lot more development to do to it on the bottom end. I really wish I knew someone who was good at fiberglassing, as that is the way I would like to go, but I may end up going with a metal bottom as well. That may be the easier way to go.
Really hated cutting up that Vararam intake system, but I couldn't ship it back, and I wasn't going to sell it to someone else for virtually nothing, so I figured why not do something with it...
The way it sits right now, the front of the intake is sitting about 3-4 behind the opening of the hood! I will try to get a good picture of where it sits tomorrow.

I am not sure yet roberx. Seems there is a nation wide back order on the chrome covers. There was only 3 of them available nationwide! I may have to go with the orange ones if I decide to make these, which seem to be everywhere.
